BECAUSE I am Black!

I have refrained from writing during this election cycle, although I have had a few blogs running through my mind. In honor of my birthday yesterday, I decided to blog in honor of the 68th anniversary of my birth. I have no doubt that our POTUS will be re-elected this Tuesday, and I have not wavered in that opinion during this entire vitriolic time. I always believe, optimist that I am, that good wins over evil, even though it may take a little time. A storm during the other folks convention, and a storm a week before the election. We know that after each storm, calm comes, and it will happen in this case. Coincidence, I think not! It is all a part of the Master plan. One of my greatest irritants has been the question "Are you voting for him because he is Black?" My answer is "I am voting for him because I am Black." I have voted all of my Black life, because I am Black. I am voting for him because he is smart; Because has a smart wife; Because is a great father; Because he is cool; Because he knows what he is doing; Because he has a world view and he has lived it (We Former Peace Corps Volunteers love that); Because he has not reacted to the negativity in a silly way; Because he is patient; Because he CARES about people; Because he represents the things I believe in; Because he is trustworthy; Because he is truthful; Because he is proactive; And yes, Because I am Black!

Go ahead on Mrs. O!!!
"Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” ~ Romans 13:1

Because my daughters are in position to explore endless possibilities, because my husband was unemployed for 3-Years but afforded the opportunity to pursue his passion in music to write and record two songs in 2010, because we owned a home for 7-Years before closing the deal on shortsale in May 2008 before our current president took office, because this college drop out teenage pregnant woman committed to hardwork and serving others to be recognized as the Top Performer within a Fortune 500 company in 2012 after receiving two promotions in 2011 to witness God supernaturally provide in a way I could never imagine, because I believe God gives our perfectly imperfect President the heart and soul to lead and endure each day against all odds to be the best he can be as a Man of God!

This election has revealed the ugliest of attitudes amongst people living in such a beautiful nation. At the end of the we have a President who belives as President Barack Obama signed an executive order in 2009, establishing the new White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships stating, "No matter how much money we invest or how sensibly we design our policies, the change that Americans are looking for will not come from government alone. There is a force for good greater than government. It is an expression of faith, this yearning to give back, this hungering for a purpose larger than our own, that reveals itself not simply in places of worship, but in senior centers and shelters, schools and hospitals, and any place an American decides."

Off the rocker facts for finger pointers:

1. Planned Parenthood has been federally funded since 1970, when President Richard Nixon signed into law the Family Planning Services and Population Research Act, amending the Public Health Service Act as part of Title X to provide funding for family planning services, including contraception and other information. The law enjoyed bipartisan support from liberals who saw contraception access as a way to increase families' control over their lives, while conservatives saw it as a way to keep people off welfare. Nixon approved Title X funding based on the premise that "no American woman should be denied access to family planning assistance because of her economic condition."

2. Same Sex Marriage has been a hot political for well over a decade, since 2001, eleven countries (Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, Sweden) and some sub-national jurisdictions within parts of Mexico and the United States by people who want to allow same-sex couples to marry. The recognition of same-sex marriage is a political, social, civil-rights and religious issue in many nations, and debates continue to arise over whether same-sex couples should be allowed marriage.

Because President Obama did NOT approve loans that people could NOT afford, because President Obama did NOT open the door to same sex marriage, because President Obama did NOT initiate the federally funded abortion, because PEOPLE are ultimately responsible for the decisions they make I will be VOTING for President Obama in spite of the amount of taxes we pay each year because we are ultimately blessed to serve in a way that protects and provides for those in greater need!

Cheers to affordable healthcare, housing reform, businesses on the rebound, storm survivors, and President Obama who has managed to encompass, encourage, and embrace the diversity of this nation known as the United States of America!!!
